The 2019 Tesla Model X is no longer the only all-electric SUV you can buy this year. It’s swift, pleasant to travel in, and relatively practical, save for its somewhat silly doors.

Pros
Doors with more flair than some supercars
Performance and handling
Smooth, quiet ride
Quick, clear 17-inch touchscreen

Cons
Looks like a bulbous Model S
Rear doors are a gimmick
Disappointing interior space
Prices go well past $140,000

The 2019 Tesla Model X SUV comes with all wheel drive. Available transmissions include: 1-speed direct drive.Revised trim-level lineup with greater range capability
New Full Self-Driving Capability feature adds extra skills to Autopilot

PROS
Instant and powerful acceleration
Electric range is impressive
Three-row seating is available
No engine noise makes for a quiet cabin

CONS
Finicky upward-swinging rear doors impede functionality
More squeaks and rattles than other high-end luxury SUVs
Rough, choppy ride with larger wheels
Vast windshield lets far too much sun and heat into the cabin

The 2019 Tesla Model X might be the greenest—and one of the fastest—way to tote up to seven people over hill and dale. As the crossover cousin to the brand's iconic Model S sedan, the X is actually practical, with all-wheel drive, a high-tech cabin with room for up to seven, and striking but fussy Falcon Wing doors.

Poor cabin assembly quality
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto not available

By:

Introduced, and then discontinued, Standard Range version.Seven-seat configuration now available.

Pros
Plenty of range
Stunning acceleration, especially from the Performance model
Convenient Supercharger network for long-distance driving
Roomy seating front and rear

Cons
No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone integration
Performance model's overly stiff ride
Optional third row of seats is barely usable

By:

edmunds.com

Other than the introduction of an optional pair of pop-up third-row jump seats, we aren't forecasting any major design or technology upgrades for the Model Y this year.

Pros
Peppy electric powertrain,
spacious cargo hold,
cutting-edge technology features.

Cons
Chassis isn't as taut as the four-door Model 3,
fit-and-finish needs polish,
too reliant on the touchscreen for simple vehicle settings.
