The 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar sets new SUV style benchmarks with its captivating body and exquisite interior.

Pros
Gorgeous shape
Adjustable and capable air suspension
Modern and sleek interior
Opulent interior...
…made better by extra-cost cloth fabric

Cons
Six figures for a mid-size SUV is a thing now
Engines feel old now
Big wheels = tough ride
Did someone say more for cloth?
Just enough second-row space

The lovely Velar's sophomore year is marked by some slight tweaks to its available content and a larger, 21.6-gallon fuel tank. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available for the first time and are bundled together in the Smartphone Pack package and the Velar's Premium Textile interior upholstery can now be ordered as a standalone option.

PROS
Stunning to behold,
functional cargo area,
upscale interior materials.

CONS
Touchscreen-everything interior takes getting used to,
so-so powertrains, top-shelf models are pricey.

If you’re still anticipating that the arrival of any new electric vehicle will undo a 15-year-old car company, it’s time to let go of that fantasy. The Tesla killer is a myth. A phantom. A four-wheeled Chupacabra. That’s true even as the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace—a $70,495 five-seat crossover with an estimated 240 miles of range—establishes itself as the most complete electric vehicle yet. A Tesla competitor? Absolutely. Will it suck the life out of Tesla sales? Not a chance.

Pros
Equal parts speed and serenity,
luxe fit and finish.

Cons
Slow-acting touchscreens,
incomplete public charging network.
